Bonus Post!

Since this week’s topic has been polyamorous parenting, I’d like to spotlight the hype about “three parent babies” going around. Many reputable news sources have reported on the creation and subsequent legalization of “three parent babies” in the UK last year. As exciting (or, to the masses, unsettling) a prospect as this is, the reality of it revolves less around gene splicing and more around Mitochondrial Donation by a third party. So, while the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, it may a long, long time yet before all poly parents can claim genetic kinship to their offspring.
