3 Possible Vee or Triad Formation - Polyamorous relationships can be closed! They can also be closed and on different levels of commitment. I once dated a couple as a secondary to their primary relationship, and we were all satisfied to keep it between us, for a time. I also know a closed triad, where the partners are all together with each other and no one else.
4 Open with Commitment(s) - A possibly nebulous arrangement in which Primary and Secondary partners may hook up and establish relationships with whomever they choose at whatever level they choose, while maintaining existing relationships at the level they see fit. Some may see constant re-establishing boundaries as exhausting, while others see the potential for growth and exploration as invigorating. This is the most commonly thought of example of polyamory, and why so many uneducated people mistake polyamory for polyfuckery (promiscuity).
