TELL THE PARTNERS WHO MAY HAVE BEEN AFFECTED!!!!

If you don’t tell them, you are being catastrophically unethical, and actually committing an act WORSE than cheating because you’re affecting the future partners of everyone you may have transmitted to or picked up from! Don’t do it for your ex, do it for every innocent person they may unwittingly (at least, it fucking better be unwittingly) infect.

Of course, no one likes talking about this, but it’ll help soften the blow if you can come to a former partner and say that you tested positive, re-tested positive, and what the plan of treatment or action is with your doctor.

And before anyone twists this out of shape, no, you don’t have to tell everyone you ever slept with- just the people back to your last test. That’s the other reason you should get tested regularly: knowing who may have given it to you and whom you may have given something if it does come up.
